So you don’t need to buy the first game if you want to just play against game one races. However, a free DLC is available that combines the two campaign maps into a “Mortal Empires” map which has all races and is pretty intense. In the WH:II map (Vortex map), you can fight against game one races but not play as their legendary lords. It has its own campaign map that is different from the WH:II campaign map. The races from the first game, Empire of Man Dwarfs Beastmen Wood Elves Bretonnia Greenskins and Vampire Counts, are all in the first game. Another DLC unlocks a couple of factions with HE and DE, and there are several other FLC. There are two more that you can buy as DLC: Tomb Kings and Vampire Pirates. That’s four factions: High Elves, Dark Elves, Lizardmen, and Skaven. If you want all the factions from game two, they come with game two.
